Brennan's dads time with us is coming to an end. He has been staying at our house for over a month now. We both are so grateful for his hard work he has done. It has made our house much better looking and livable. He left us a little list before he departs on all the things we still have to do. Thanks Vic.
This blog is about moving from California to Colorado, and everything that happens before, after, and in between.

New Paint
The shutters are on and the paint has been touched up. It took a while to get the shutters back up because it has been so darn hot here. In the 90's and 100's for the past two weeks. Yikes. No one wanted to get up in the ladder in the sweltering heat and touch up paint and attach the shutters. But here are pictures of output wonderful new house color. I call the body of the house a dark sage green. The trim is just black. Looks so much better than cream with blue trim. Yuck!

New Cannister Vacuum
We finally got a new, quiet, wonderful Cannister vacuum. It's a Kenmore Progressive and it works like a dream. No more really loud vacuum and less Kida hair. Yay!
Stairs
The stairs in our house are now covered with wood and no longer squeak! Those of you who have been to house might remember how squeaky our stairs were. Well thanks to Brennan's dad, Vic, we can now climb they stairs without everyone in the house knowing. Vic covered them with the same wood as our floor, hickory. Eventually, we will stain and finish them. All in good time.

Starting to Paint the Outside of the House
We started preparing the outside of our house with sanding, priming, and patching up. The side of the house we started with faces the South, so its very weather beaten. We have decided on a darker sage green color with black trim.

Closet door Revamp
Our home has a closet when first walk into the house. It was kind of boring. Cindy suggested, "let's paint it with black chalk board paint." Here are some before and after pictures of our new updated closet door. Now we just need to get our cute Anthropologie door knob to fit on the door and it will be finished.

Phase One...
We continued the revamping of our front yard over the weekend. Brennan and I went to Home Depot and picked out some stone that only cost .83 cents a brick, some borders and lining. Brennan built a really cool flower bed out of the stones. He secured the stones with pins we found in our backyard.

Now we just need to fill it in with new soil. I am getting very eager to plant my plants I already bought. :) I couldn't help myself. But the waiting is driving me nuts. :)
Kida helped too.

Cleaning up the front yard
We have begun cleaning up and ripping out plants in our front yard. We plan to plant some ornamental grasses, shrubs, and maybe even some succulents. We plan to make it low maintenance and drought tolerant.

Backyard
We finally have life in our backyard again. We also have a flowering tree, not sure if it's an apple tree or cherry. But I am excited to find out.

Picture Update
I know I haven't posted anything in a long time. Brennan and I had three sets of visitors from California. My Mom, Heather and Spencer were first, Brooke, Justin and Sienna Charette, then my Dad and Peggy Samson. We had a great time with everyone and appreciated the effort of coming out to Colorado to visit us. We hope to see you again soon. :)
Below are some pictures of the kitchen and faucet (requested most urgently from Victer McNatt). :) The kitchen is now broken in and I forgot how wonderful it is to do dishes and cook with a sink nearby.

I love my new faucet and cooking in my new kitchen.
Here are a few pictures of the updated house. Peggy and my Dad, took us on a shopping spree and bought two couches that I love. They fully recline and make our Den / Television Room very comfortable.

California Visitors
We had three sets of California visitors that came out in the month of January. They included, my Mom, Kim, Heather, Spencer, Brooke, Justin and Sienna Charette, and my Dad, Gene and Peggy Samson. Here are a few photos of the good times we had while they were here.
My Mom took all of us to Breckenridge. We stayed at the Beaver Run Resort. That is a great place because its right at the slopes and it was dog friendly. It snowed while we were there too!

We also visited Vail.
I went to the Denver Zoo with the Charettes. What a great zoo! We even got to hear the Lions roar.
My Dad and Peggy were here during Brennan's 29th birthday. We went out to Euclid Hall Bar & Kitchen. Yummmmm. So good.
Thank you everybody for the visit and memories.
